Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy for Wott
Effective Date: August 25, 2026
1. Introduction
Wott ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to
protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information
in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and
other global privacy standards.
2. Lawful Basis for Processing
We process data based on Contractual Necessity (to provide the core app
functionality you requested) and Legitimate Interests (to maintain and
improve the user experience).
3. Data Minimisation and Storage
We follow the principle of Data Minimisation, requesting only the
absolute necessary information for the app to function.
· On-Device Storage: All content links, movie metadata, and custom folders are stored exclusively on your device's local storage.
· No Central Servers: We do not operate any external servers or databases to store your personal information. We cannot see, access, or share your saved watchlist.
4. Third-Party Data Transmission
While we do not collect your data, our app interacts with third-party services
to provide necessary features. Under the GDPR, technical identifiers like IP
addresses are considered personal data.
· TMDB API: We use The Movie Database (TMDB) API to fetch movie details and posters. When the app makes a request to TMDB, your technical identifiers (such as IP address) are transmitted to their servers to fulfill the request. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
· Brand Logo Plugins: We use third-party libraries to display official platform logos (e.g., Netflix, Disney+) for UI purposes.
· Payment Processing: All in-app purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store your credit card or billing information.
5. Device Features and Permissions
The app utilizes the following native device features:
· Internet Access: Required solely to fetch metadata from TMDB.
· Share Intent: Used only when you explicitly choose to "Share" a link from an external app to Wott
· Local Memory: Used to store your 50-save limit counter and saved links.
6. User Rights Under GDPR
As a user in the EU/EEA, you have specific rights:
· Right to Access and Rectification: You can view and edit all your data directly within the app's local interface.
· Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can delete specific links or the entire app. Deleting the app instantly purges all locally stored data from your device.
· Right to Restrict Processing: You can prevent third-party transmission by using the app offline (though metadata fetching will be disabled).
7. Child Safety
Our app is for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data
from children under 16 (or 13 depending on jurisdiction). We encourage parents
to use platform-level safeguards like Apple Screen Time or Google
Family Link to manage access to external media content.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. We will notify you of any material
changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy
and through in-app notifications if applicable.
